Dr. Delgado Nixon, Associate Professor at The Ohio State University College of Optometry, walked the club through the dissection of a cow eye.  Members of the clubs learned interesting things about the cow eye and how it compares to the human eye.

Karissa Sworski, Assistant Director of Admissions at SUNY College of Optometry, discussed with members what the college had to offer and what life looks like as an optometry student living in New York City.  She also gave admissions tips and discussed the curriculum of SUNY.

Candace Johnson, the Assistant Director of Admissions at The Ohio State University College of Optometry, gave the club a tour of the OptomCas website.  She discussed the ins and outs of the website, and answered questions members of the club had about applying and the website.

Club President, Bri Ridenour, had “office hours” where club members stopped in to ask her their own personal questions.  Bri answered questions regarding the OAT, application process, interviews, and the journey to optometry school.

Dr. Muckley, Chief Executive Officer and Director of the Ohio Optometric Association (OOA), talked to the club about what the OOA is, and what is does.  She also discussed the importance of advocating for the optometric field.  She discussed Senate Bill 129, and how undergraduate students can make a difference and do their part in helping this bill pass.

Jen Bennett, Director of Student Services and Chair on the Admissions Committee at The Ohio State University College of Optometry, gave a presentation about admission tips and tricks.  She gave information on how to do well with your optometry school interview, and also provided tips on crafting a personal statement.

Dr. Earley, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at The Ohio State University College of Optometry, gave a tour of The Optometry Clinic.  He discussed what occurred on each level, and what year you would be on that level.  He also answered a number of questions regarding the clinic and optometry school in general.
