Despite the weather, it’s the time of year for meetings, banquets and other beef related activities. Be sure you (and our youth) have these items on the calendar:
- The Ohio Beef School webinar will be downlinked in the Fairfield County Ag Center on Tuesday, February 5 beginning at 7 p.m. Note this is also the date of a local Pesticide REcertification session. For producers who can’t attend Beef School on the 5th, a recording will be made available shortly after the live broadcast on the 5th. Find more information here.
- Fairfield County Cattlemen’s Association Scholarship: High School seniors and current college undergraduates are invited to apply for the 2019 FCCA College $500 scholarship. Deadline to apply is February 10, and the award will be announced during the 31st annual FCCA Banquet on March 9. Download the application that’s linked here (best viewed in Chrome or Explorer).
- On Saturday, March 9, Junior Fair Market Beef weigh-in and tagging will be held at the new Fairfield Cattle Company facility located at 3443 Cincinnati-Zanesville Road, Lancaster. As in the past, processing cattle will begin at 8:30 a.m., but note the new date . . . March 9, the second Saturday in March! Find more detail here.
- The Fairfield County Cattlemen’s Association 31st annual Banquet and Meeting will be held in the Ag Center on March 9 beginning at 6 p.m. As always it will be a great evening of fun and fellowship. Mark your calendar and more details will be available soon.
Also, be sure to get the Ohio Beef Expo, March 15-17, on your calendar.
