To say the least, suggesting it’s been a wild ride on the path to profitability in the cow-calf sector during this decade is an understatement. Beginning in 2009-10 cattlemen saw the most dramatic increase in cattle prices ever, to the point where we experienced historic highs in 2014-15. Cattlemen Set 29th Annual Banquet for March 25

Hold the date! The 29th annual Fairfield County Cattleman’s Association banquet and annual meeting will be held Saturday, March 25 in the Fairfield County Ag Center (831 College Avenue, Lancaster) with registration beginning at 6 p.m. Supper will feature beef sirloin tips over noodles with gravy, red skin potatoes, green beans and salad, all prepared and catered by TC Market.

Ohio Beef School Session #2 is Tuesday February 7

The Fairfield County Cattlemen will serve as your host again this coming week for the second session of the 2017 Ohio Beef Cattle School webinar series. This week’s program will be presented live and broadcast to 26 other locations from the Fairfield County Ag Center. The focus for the evening will be alternatives for weaning and backgrounding calves.

Junior Market Beef Weigh-in is set for Saturday, March 4

Youth who plan to exhibit a finished market beef animal in the 2017 Fairfield County Junior Beef Show must have their animals weighed in, tagged, and nose printed on Saturday, March 4 at the Fairfield Cattle Company beginning at 8:30 a.m. The Fairfield Cattle Company is in Canal Winchester located on Bowen Road approximately ½ mile north of S.R. 33. Weigh-in will conclude at 11 a.m. that day or whenever the animals in line at that time have been processed.
