For those who may not be familiar with livestock judging, it’s one of the most challenging projects a youth can participate in, and gives young people many valuable opportunities to develop skills that will help them for the rest of their lives. Livestock judging:

  • Enhances decision making capabilities and critical thinking skills
  • Oral reasons provide the framework for public speaking skills
  • Builds character, integrity and honesty
  • Allows youth to network with other individuals and producers who share similar interest

Youth interested in participating need no prior formal training. They only need to have an interest in gaining livestock industry knowledge and a willingness to learn. Contact coaches Trey Miller or Justin Bachman at fairfieldlivestockjudging@hotmail.com for information about the practice schedule and future contests.

The coaches and team members are to be commended for their effort at the 2015 Ohio State Fair. CONGRATULATIONS!
