2024 Ohio 4-H Week is coming!

Celebrate Ohio 4-H Week with Us!

Join us March 3-9, 2024, for a week of celebration as we recognize our members, volunteers, professionals, and supporters who bring [county] County 4-H programming to life. Starting Sunday, March 3, we invite our 4-H families, alumni, and friends to join us in our daily social media challenges.

This year, we have daily themes:

Sunday – give a shout-out to a fantastic 4-H volunteer
Monday – encourage someone in the community to get their family involved in 4-H
Tuesday – wear your 4-H green with pride
Wednesday – tell us why you give to 4-H
Thursday – let us know who you’re thankful for in Ohio 4-H
Friday – share your favorite things about 4-H with us
Saturday – celebrate 4-H making the best better by letting us know why you love 4-H

Completing your online enrollment for the 2024 4-H program year is another way you can get in the spirit of Ohio 4-H Week! Through 4-H, youth participate in hands-on, experiential learning activities that help them grow into caring, competent, confident leaders of tomorrow, all while having fun and forming friendships that will last a lifetime!

To learn more about how to get started in 4-H, visit [website]. There, you can find information about the various community clubs in [county] County and learn how to select a project. Enrollment can be completed on 4-H Online through April 1, 2024. Please contact Sara Lewis at Lewis.3213@osu.edu or 419-337-9210 with any questions.

Looking for 4-H Cloverbud Ideas & Resources?

Cloverbud Meeting Menu

Ohio 4-H Professionals have created the Ohio 4-H Cloverbud Meeting Menu for volunteers to use with Cloverbud Club members at your meetings. The Menu is a tool to help you serve up an exciting year of Cloverbud meetings. You can choose from a selection of components to engage your 4-H Cloverbuds.  You will find a variety of activities, games and snacks all based around a yearly theme. The theme this year is Going WILD with Ohio 4-H Cloverbuds. u.osu.edu/cloverbudconnections/cloverbud-meeting-menu/

Cloverbud Engineering Adventure

The Cloverbud Engineering Adventure gives Cloverbuds the opportunity to work cooperatively in teams to problem-solve using STEM (science, engineering, technology and math) skills. A new theme is selected each year and teams research a topic, build a working model of their solution to the adventure challenge and create a poster to illustrate their findings. Teams present their models and findings to a team of reviewers, learn about other Cloverbud projects, participate in age-appropriate STEM activities, and are recognized during a closing celebration.

This year’s theme is Going WILD! Whether imagining the jungles of Southeast Asia, learning about the natural wonders of United States National Parks or exploring nature in their own backyard, this year’s Cloverbud Engineering Adventure will get Cloverbuds thinking about the world we live in. Cloverbuds will explore the idea of habitats and what habitats provide for the animals and plants that live there. They will have opportunities for discovery, creativity and problem solving as they explore habitats that are around them or learn about ones that are in other parts of the world. For more information on the Cloverbud Engineering Adventure and to register, please visit u.osu.edu/cloverbudconnections/engineering-adventure/

All 4-H Quality Assurance trainings must be completed by June 1st. Quality Assurance Sessions will only be held at club meetings if a club volunteer received QA Assistant Instructor Certification by completing training for the current year.

Horse QA will be conducted online through EquiSTEP (link to be updated in January 2024), by each individual exhibitor, in accordance with Ohio Horse 4-H curriculum. Horse QA only allows youth to show horses at the fair. It will not certify you for other fair animals. June 1st deadline.

Dog project members have two options to certify for quality assurance. 1) attend one of the Quality Assurance Sessions listed above; 2) view the videos shown at the annual Dog Kick Off event; or 3) check out and view “Safety Around Dogs” video. Dog Quality Assurance only allows for youth to show dogs at the fair. It will not certify you for other fair animals. June 1st deadline.

REMINDER: Quality assurance is not required for youth taking pet care projects such as guinea pigs, cats, mice, gerbils, hamsters, rats, chinchillas, ferrets, hedgehogs, and pet rabbits. These animals do not exhibit at the fair.

Registration and Other Instructions

QA registration and additional neighboring county dates and info can be found at go.osu.edu/nwoqa2024. All of these sessions will be accepted as QA certification, some are in-person, some are virtual. IF YOU ATTEND QA OUT-OF-COUNTY, IT IS THE EXHIBITOR’S RESPONSIBILITY TO HAVE THEIR CERTIFICATE TURNED IN NO LATER THAN JUNE 1, 2024 TO THE FULTON COUNTY OSU EXTENSION OFFICE.

QA requirements can also be completed through your community club, or local FFA advisor, if eligible.
