Ohio State and even the Environment and Natural Resource Scholar can feel big and overwhelming. To help students find their place in the program, build friendships, and establish a support system, ENR Scholars is comprised of five ‘families’ including the Trailblazers, Navigators, Dreamweavers, Defenders, and Challengers. First-year students are assigned to one of these five families prior to arriving on campus, allowing them to meet others in their cohort and second-year scholars with whom they may ask questions about what Ohio State is like, classes, what to bring, etc. Each family has a student leader, known as a Community Leader, who organizes regular dinners, study sessions, hangouts, and more. Throughout the course of the academic year, the five families compete in a variety of activities and competitions and one is crowned Family of the Year and celebrated at the end of the spring semester.
