The relectance sensor uses a photo-transistor and an LED the uses infrared light in order to see when the wheel rotates. This will give our team a more precise means of moving the AEV, considering the vehicle will be able to tell how much it has moved instead of timing the motor run times with when it needs to start and stop moving.
