APPROACH TO MISSION CONCEPT REVIEW

Division C of Baker International Group plans on assisting in the creation of an autonomous Advanced Electric Vehicle (AEV) as a part of the Smart City Columbus initiative by following the established project schedule and by utilizing the various strengths of division members. The goal of the Smart City Columbus initiative is to make Columbus more accessible and ecofriendly. To reach this goal, Smart City has asked 6 companies to research ways to create a cost effective and efficient vehicle to travel on a rail. The most energy efficient vehicle’s design will be used by Smart City Columbus to achieve their initiative and help mobilize Columbus (MCR).

Two members on the division are skilled in programming and will be taking the lead on programming the AEV. The other division members will assist in the programming of the AEV while also managing the project documentation and communication between division C and the rest of the Baker International Group team. The division will also conduct research and development that will be documented through various progress reports, presentations, notes, and code. The ultimate goal of division C is to maximize the efficiency of the AEV while minimizing the cost of the AEV for the city of Columbus. The AEV will provide an efficient, ecofriendly means of transportation, capable of transporting a large amount of people in a short amount of time (MCR).

The first course of action within the team will be to brainstorm ideas on how the AEV should be built, possible issues that may occur when designing and testing the AEV, and the structure of the project in general. Though not all issues can be addressed from the start, the team plans to work ahead in order to give time for debugging code or physical issues with the AEV. This way, all deadlines can be met while still creating a quality design for the Smart City Columbus Initiative.
