Test 3: Energy

The central goal for this performance test was to maximize the efficiency of our AEV. One of the things we recognized was that the performance of our AEV increased when only one rubber band is used. We believe that when two rubber bands are used, there is more friction present which in turn makes our AEV work harder to travel the same distance. In order to maximize efficiency, another of the changes our team made was a modification to the code that controls the AEV. Instead of setting our AEV to go at a constant speed throughout the trip, we decided that it was better to go very quickly initially and to slow down to a lower speed later when precision is needed for landing at the gates. Which this approach the sliding is minimal as shown in the figure below.
