For the first test and tests thereafter, the team decided to fully commit on a belt drive system approach. In order to make this work we only used one rubber band. The challenge with this though, was figuring out which configuration was the best. In order to do this we came up with an iterative approach for selecting several designs. Afterwards, the designs were tested with the prototype code to see which performs the best. The final selection was based on the data from the analysis tool and the figures used are shown below. In the end the final design 2 was chosen. Figure 1 shows how the first design is not as stable as design 2 because of the large spike shown in the time vs power graph.
