The group brainstormed concept ideas for the AEV design process, considering weight, cost, and aerodynamics. Below are each member’s design and the pros/cons of the particular sketch
Logan Laurer’s Design
- Pros: The concept is derived from very cheap materials that allow it be reasonably light.
- Cons: The concept lacks aerodynamics to allow smoother and easier travel.
Will Main’s Design
- Pros: Cheap and lightweight design, is very minimalistic.
- Cons: Lightness could cause the AEV to fly off the track when running.
Conner Graham’s Design
- Pros: Cheap and aerodynamic to enhance AEV performance while minimizing expenses.
- Cons: Could be too light with possible uneven weight distribution that inhibits performance.
Ethan Briggs’ Design
- Pros: Cheap and low profile for a limited aerodynamic drag
- Cons: Could be too big, and too heavy limiting acceleration
Final Design
- Pros: Lightweight, stable, and has the ability to move fast while maintaining consistency
- Cons: Not as energy efficient as other AEV designs
