Power vs. Time Power vs. Distance
For the Motor Configuration topic, the team tested two configurations of motors two times each – one forward and one backward. There were two pieces of code used for this exercise, with the only difference being one code made the AEV go forward, while the other cause it to move backward. After each run, the recorded data was then put into the AEV Analysis Tool and evaluated.
As seen on the Power vs. Distance graph above, both configurations went significantly farther when going forward when compared to going backward. In both directions, however, configuration one went much farther than configuration two. Also, on the Power vs. Time graph above, one can clearly notice that configuration one used less power than configuration two, although the difference is slight. Therefore, due to the higher overall efficiency of configuration one, the team will be using said configuration in the final AEV design. The next step is to install the motors into the correct position, and perform further test to ensure there are no inconsistencies. Both of the configurations are shown below.
