The Defiance County Livestock Committee is requiring “Supplemental Pages” for skillathon. Use one set of pages/species

  • Ohio State Fair:  Exhibitors are required to take a current/completed Ohio 4-H project record book.

SKILLATHON

  • Skillaton is Monday, July 8th, 2024 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm
  • TWO STATIONS: Parts and Meat Cuts or Conformation

4-H Demonstration Contest

GENERAL RULES:

  • Please pre-register by calling the Extension Office by June 21st 419-782-4771

  • Each demonstrator will compete against others in his/her age division. *Divisions: Junior Division (9 -13 years) and Senior Division (14-19 years)

  • The demonstrator may use note cards.

  • All forms of visual aids and props are permitted for this contest.

  • Presentations should be 6 – 9 minutes in length.

  • Members must set up presentation on their own without outside assistance.

  • Participation is worth 10 points towards Honor Club & Star Member

DEMONSTRATORS WILL BE JUDGED ON:

  • Members will be evaluated on ability to convey information and teach on a particular topic.

  • Appearance – clean and neat

  • Organization – logical order

  • Presentation Summary – review of points

  • equipment – suitable arrangement

  • Charts and Visuals – neat Subject Matter suitable, creative, informative

  • Grammar and vocabulary

 

Awards:

All participants will receive a participation ribbon.

Junior Division Winner will receive $25 (Sponsored by 4-H Advisory Council)

Senior Division Winner will receive $25 (Sponsored by Shake Rattle-n-Roll Spin Club)

2024 Livestock Tagging

Central Tagging – NEW UPDATE (4/11/2024):

  • Central Tagging will be June 8th from 7:00 am – 10:00 am in the Ext. Office Parking Lot.

  • NEW: Families with market animals not present at Central Tagging on June 8th will be charged a $50 farm visit and $10/tag which is payable up front.

  • Feeder Calves:Your feeder calf must be present at tagging, EVEN if your animal already has an EID tag. Feeder calves will also receive a vaccine – cost is $2.00.

  • Swine: Your animal must be present at tagging, EVEN if your animal already has an EID tag. Pig Catch must attend tagging.

  • Rabbits:  All rabbits in possession (breeding and roasters) will come to Central Tagging.

  • Sheep & Goats: Only market sheep and market goats.  Essay Lambs must attend tagging.

  • Poultry: Poultry does not come to tagging

    • 300 chances to win
    • $50.00 enters you into all 300 gun drawings
    • Drawings start in March 2024
    • Support the future of shooting sports in Northwest Ohio!

For each calendar sold:

  • $12.50 is directly donated to the Defiance County 4H Shooting Sports Program
  • $12.50 goes to the Northwest Ohio Friends of NRA to fund grant requests in 2023
  • $25.00 is used to pay for the guns and calendar
