Teaching & Learning

FAME presents a variety of programs that promote educator skill development through reflection, peer observation, large group learning and faculty learning communities. The majority of programs are taught by faculty subject matter experts within The Ohio State University College of Medicine, including Nationwide Children’s Hospital. In addition to programs we produce, we connect educators to the wide variety of local, regional, national and international development opportunities. We promote innovation and the scholarship of medical education to advance the methods and effectiveness of teaching, evaluation, assessment and curricular design.

Exemplary health sciences education leads to optimal patient care and societal health outcomes. Our mission is to promote the professional development of faculty and scholars within the health professions to create highly effective educators who design innovative curricula, conduct and disseminate scholarly educational research while providing high value to all learners.

Curriculum & Design Cohort Program

The Curriculum Design Cohort is a 5-month program combining workshops, independent work, and peer observation to help faculty develop advanced teaching and educational program design skills. Participants will learn to facilitate learners’ knowledge acquisition, design and assess curricula for educational programs and incorporate best practices for active learning and technology strategies into curricula. The goal of this cohort is to enhance and improve teaching skills and design a curriculum that includes evidence-based adult learning strategies, assessments, and programmatic evaluation. In doing so, faculty will develop greater autonomy in developing and maintaining educational programming.
