Introduction to Teaching in Medicine and the Health Sciences

This self-directed online experience will serve as a foundation for teaching in the College of Medicine at The Ohio State University.  It includes interdisciplinary faculty perspectives and an introduction to evidence-based teaching practices for all aspects of clinical teaching and health sciences instruction.

Advancing Your Clinical Teaching

Advancing Your Clinical Teaching provides a broad and comprehensive view of the educational mission of the College of Medicine, an academic medical center, and its faculty.

  • Target Audience: All faculty in College of Medicine, as well as any other faculty within the health science colleges.
  • Format: Asynchronous
  • Dates: Registration starting July 1, 2023

What makes this course different?

  • The 18 course modules serve as a path to gain expertise in clinical teaching and provides educational best practices for all faculty in the College of Medicine.
  • The modules have been created by interdisciplinary teams which facilitates achieving the goal of both team-based practice and education.
  • Provides opportunities for self-reflection and feedback allowing for continued improvement of teaching skills.
  • Provides framework for development of an educator portfolio readily incorporated into the promotion and tenure document.
