Ohio Soybean Council

The Ohio Soybean Council Foundation is pleased to offer $47,000 in scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students for the 2026-2027 academic year. Scholarships are available to undergraduate and graduate students pursuing studies related to the soybean industry and the field of agriculture.

Applications for the 2026-2027 academic year opened on October 27th and will close on January 16th, 2026!

Save the Date: Making eXtreme Counselors (MXC)

Making eXtreme Counselors (MXC) is a statewide camp counselor training that supplements county training. It is interactive, covers specific core competencies each year, and brings together teens from multiple camps to share ideas. It is a great way for counselors to learn from someone different and to share ideas from songs and skits to evening programs and facilitation skills!

Dates: February 28th- March 1st, 2026

Where: Nationwide and Ohio Farm Bureau Center

Cost: $65/ youth (includes t-shirt, food, and swag items!)

Counselors will have the opportunity to receive up to 14 hours of training, which supplements county training.

4-H Night with the Toledo Walleye

The Toledo Walleye is thrilled to announce that they will be hosting their first-ever 4-H night on Sunday, March 22nd! All 4-H members and their families are invited to come and enjoy the game with some fun activities going on throughout the game. Tickets for the game will be $17 per person for all 4-H club members and their families.

Ohio 4-H State Leadership Camp

Ohio 4-H State Leadership Camp | Ohio 4-H Youth Development

Leadership Camp Information:

  • Date: June 1-5, 2026 (camper check in at 2:00 PM, Dismissal at 10:30 AM). Full time attendance is required!
  • Location:4-H Camp Ohio, St. Louisville, OH
  • What: The Ohio 4-H State Leadership Camp is a premier leadership development opportunity that offers participants engaging sessions in topics such as motivation, courage, teamwork, and more! While at camp, participants are actively learning AND teaching their peers!
  • Who: Teens 15-18 as of January 1st, 2026 and mature 14 year olds (as determined by the county 4-H professional) who have significant leadership potential or experience in their home county’s 4-H program.
    • Camp is designed for participants to attend one time. However, individuals may attend for 2+ years, if space is available. Scholarship dollars are only to be used for first time in-person attendees.
  • What do they do: Participants will develop concrete peer leadership skills that will enable them to have an immediate impact in their home 4-H club, county, community, or school. Participants will leave camp ready to take on new challenges.
  • Cost: Counties have a credit thanks to Nationwide, Farm Credit Mid America, and the Dorothy L. Miller 4-H Leadership Camp Endowment Fund. This amount can be used for an entire campership, or divided among participants. Each county is allotted $400. Cost is $345/person.

ONE WEEK LEFT TO APPLY! : 2026 4-H Camp Counselor Applications Available

It’s about time start planning the 2026 4-H Camping Program! Youth in grades 9-12 are eligible to apply to serve as a camp counselor. See below for more details regarding the camp counselor experience:

What: 4-H Camp Counselors provide care and coordinate activities for campers during the camp week. This is a fun and unique experience that requires a great deal of commitment, responsibility, maturity, and accountability.

When: Counselors are required  to attend mandatory monthly trainings to equate to a recommended 24 hours of training. The following are the counselor training meeting dates:

  • October 17th (Interviews, times to be announced)
  • November 16th (2-5 PM)
  • December 21st (2-5 PM)
  • January 18th (2-5 PM)
  • February 15th (2-5 PM)
  • March 15th (2-5 PM)
  • Aril 19th (2-5 PM)
  • May 17th (2-5 PM)

2025 Jr. Fair Livestock Sale Check Pick Up Information

The Sale Committee will host Jr. Fair Livestock Sale Check Pick-Up this Sunday, October 5th, at 6:30 PM in Livestock Arena I. There will be a brief meeting prior to checks being passed out. Please be prepared to sign off on any and all (you may pick up for others if you have their permission) checks picked up!

Camp Life at Canter’s Cave 4-H Camp!

Camp Life is here!

Join us November 15th & 16th at Canter’s Cave 4-H Camp for a weekend of life skills and camp fun. Teens will learn skills they’ll actually use- like sewing on a button, preparing a meal, basic car care, and more – then kick back and relax with an Ohio State Buckeyes tailgate, dance, and campfire. A weekend of life skills + camp vibes = memories made. Open to teens in grades 7-12. Register at go.osu.edu/CantersCampLife by November 1st. There is a $40 registration fee, which includes all meals, snacks, a t-shirt, and a life skills kit to take home.

2025 Carving New Ideas

Each year, Collegiate 4-H at The Ohio State University organizes a weekend workshop called Carving New Ideas (CNI). It will be held at 4-H Camp Ohio, November 21-23, 2025, and is open to all teen 4-H members across the state. Please consider sharing this opportunity in your newsletters and on social media. It’s a fun weekend for teens to get to interact with college students who serve as the organizers, camp counselors, and session facilitators. This opportunity focuses on workforce development, future-forward thinking, and program facilitation for 4-H members in grades 8-12. Campers develop their leadership skills while making new friends across Ohio.

Ohio Achievement Award Now Available for 2026!

  • What is the Ohio 4-H Achievement Record?: The Ohio 4-H Achievement Record is a comprehensive record of a 4-H member’s career, accomplishments, and achievements. It is a great way to capture all the experiences they have had in 4-H, practice for filling out future job or college applications, and get a head start on applying for scholarships.  There are 27 project area categories in which to apply, such as individual animal projects, citizenship, community service, clothing, creative arts, woodworking, shooting sports, leadership, and more! State winners in each category win a trip to events such as National 4-H Congress, National Dairy Conference, and the Shooting Sports Teen Leadership Institute. These events encourage members to expand their skills, engage with other 4-H members, and inspire them to make an impact in their communities!

2026 Ohio 4-H Global Immersion Project: Greece

Ohio 4-H Global Immersion Project- Greece (April 19-30th, 2026)

  • Who: Ohio 4-H teens (ages 15-18), teens must be nominate by county 4-H educator
  • Where: American Farm School in Thessaloniki, Greece. It was established in 1904 and is renowned for its innovative approach to agricultural education.
  • What: Participants will engage in a variety of educational classroom and field activities, including sensory analysis workshops with products such as feta cheese, honey, and olive oil. They will tour the school’s state-of-the-art facilities, including its experimental farms and research centers. Teens will be part of a “Work Internship” with AFS high school students working in cohorts focused on different program units that include: Animal and Plan Production, Food Science & Technology, and more. Youth will also participate in a cross-cultural and agricultural career field exploration program designed to help youth learn about careers in agriculture, cross-cultural interactions, workforce preparation, and leadership skills.  In addition, youth will help facilitate teambuilding and problem-solving activities through a Leadership Workshop with Greek high school and Jr. high students. By engaging with these students, the teen leaders will expand their leadership skill development and gain insights into teaching an international audience. Two off-site cultural experiences include an overnight experience in the historical town of Xanthi. Youth will have the opportunity to kayak and experience the beautiful landscape. There will also be a visit to UNESCO World Heritage site Meteora, which features monasteries built in the 11th century atop of limestone pillars. A Greek cooking class, city history tour, and local farmers market activity are included.
  • Costs: To be determined based on grants received, estimate is $3,000 which includes airfare, all lodging, most meals, ground transportation, translation services, park entrance, and program fees.
