Learn 10 Facts About Washington, D.C.

What is it?: Citizenship Washington Focus (CWF) is a 4-H leadership program for high school youth (ages 14-19) from across the country. Youth have the opportunity to explore, develop, and refine the civic engagement skills they need to be outstanding leaders in their communities.

What will participants do?: Through sightseeing tours in Washington D.C. and hands-on educational workshops, youth will learn about the history of our nation, the leaders who have shaped it, and how they can apply the leadership and citizenship skills they have learned at CWF when they return home!

When?: Ohio 4-H gives participants can either participate in Week 1 (June 15-22) or Week 2 (June 20-27)

Mr. & Mrs. C.H. Ginn Agriculture Scholarship

BACKGROUND

Vera Ginn established the Mr. & Mrs. C.H. Ginn Agricultural Scholarship in recognition of the lifetime contribution that her parents made to the agricultural community of Shelby County.  Mr. & Mr. C.H. Ginn were farmers and agricultural enthusiasts, and they operated a well-known feed grain and agriculture supply business in Sidney for many years.

ELIGIBILITY PER-REQUISITES

  1. Possess a definite goal of becoming established in farming or other agricultural related career.
  2. Planning to enter a post-secondary educational institution of higher learning in the fall of the year in which application is made.
  3. Current senior attending a Shelby County school:  Anna, Botkins, Fairlawn, Fort Loramie, Hardin-Houston, Jackson Center, Lehman, Russia, Sidney or Sidney Christian.
  4. Completed and submitted the Mr. & Mrs. C.H. Ginn Agricultural Scholarship by February 28 of the application year.

Ohio State Fair Junior Fair Board

Ohio State Fair

The Ohio State Junior Fair Board is made up of Ohio’s best and brightest young leaders, hand-picked to contribute to the success of the Ohio State Fair. These students come together for two weeks of hard work and team building while fostering professional relationships along the way.

Requirements to apply:

  • 16-20 years old
  • Currently a member of 4-H, FFA, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, or Farm Bureau, or any other career technical organization
  • Highly involved in their organization
  • Significant accomplishments within the organization
  • Leadership experience with the potential and desire to continue to grow as a leader
  • Very responsible, respectful, and professional
  • Members are only eligible to serve one two year term on the JFB representing one organization

All interested applicants should submit an Ohio State Fair Junior Fair Board Application through the online application portal  before March 1st!

Ohio Farm Bureau ExploreAg

Ohio Farm Bureau will once again be hosting several free ExploreAg Camp experiences this summer! ExploreAg is Ohio Farm Bureau’s signature ag literacy and workforce development program, offering free week, multi-day and day-long immersion programs for high school students. In ExploreAg, teens learn about agriculture and related STEM fields from industry experts, scientists, and educators.

Purpose: Discover careers linked to agriculture and related STEM fields through a series of immersive and hands-on experiences and tours

Who: Ohio students entering grades 9-12 in the fall, or soon-to-be recent high school graduates

Cost: FREE!

When:

  • May 31st: COLT Electric Lineman Training, Mt. Gilead
  • June 4-7th: Wilmington College
  • June 9-14th: OSU Columbus Campus
  • June 16-21st: OSU Wooster Campus
  • July 7-12th: University of Findlay
