Solution NMR Instruments

Bruker Fourier 80 MHz (Sesame) – CBEC -092

This instrument is primarily used for training of the teaching labs.

DPX 250 MHz (Thyme) – Evans 0031

This is a walk-up instrument that is capable of collecting 1D NMR spectra. This spectrometer is equipped with a QNP probe that allows for detection of 1H, 13C, 11B, and 31P nuclei. This room is also furnished with blackout drapes for loading light-sensitive materials.

Avance Neo 400 MHz (Cinnamon) – Evans 0031

This is one of our most versatile instrument in the CBC facility, capable of a large number of experiments ranging from routine experiments of a variety of nuclei to advanced multi-dimensional, multi-nuclear NMR and variable temperature (-90C to +90C) experiments.  This spectrometer is located in the basement of Evans Lab (0031). Spectrometer is equipped with a SampleCase which is compatible for a variety of NMR tubes and caps (including flame-sealed tubes and J. Young tubes). This room is also furnished with blackout drapes for loading light-sensitive materials.

AVIII 400 MHz (Saffron) – CBEC 092

This is a walk-up instrument equipped with a SampleJet sample changer queuing up to 576 samples.  Undergraduate organic laboratory students have access to this system via course curriculum and individual research.  All researchers within the department, when trained, can submit a variety of NMR experiments – proton, carbon, phosphorus, fluorine, COSY, HSQC, HMBC, etc.

Avance Neo 400 MHz (Wasabi) – CBEC 092

This is a walk-up instrument equipped with a SampleJet sample changer queuing up to 576 samples and a Prodigy Cryoprobe for enhanced sensitivity. This instrument is reserved for graduate student and post-doctoral researchers. Once trained, those within the department can submit samples to acquire a variety of NMR experiments – proton, carbon, phosphorus, fluorine, COSY, HSQC, HMBC, etc.

AVIII 600 MHz (Sage) – CBEC 092

This is the most versatile instrument in the CBC facility, capable of a large number of experiments ranging from routine experiments to advanced multi-dimensional and multi-nuclear NMR as well as variable temperature (-90C to +90C).  Advanced users must be comfortable with hardware manipulations in order to optimize the conditions and obtain high-quality data.
