Motor Configuration

The purpose behind Motor Configuration was to determine which set up would yield the best power output while using minimal motor speed. Two configurations were tested during research. The test used a code that used only 28% of the motor speed because it was determined in Preliminary R&D that 28% was the minimum to get the AEV over hills. The first configuration had the AEV fins at a 90 degree angle with the body and used the small propellers. The second configuration had the fins at a 45 degree angle to the body and used the larger propellers. Images of both configurations are shown below.

Configuration 2 provided the large power output and pushed the AEV a greater distance that configuration 1. The team determined that the difference in power and distance was based on which propellers were used. Moving forward configuration 2 will be used in the final design and a power to weight ratio will be calculated.
