Market Turkey Order Form Available

It is time to order your market turkeys for the 2025 Paulding County Junior Fair.  All turkey orders must be received by 11:59 pm on December 18th in order to meet the deadline with Cooper Farms Hatchery.

Cooper Farms have been a wonderful supporter of the Paulding County 4-H and FFA programs and are once again offering up to 5 free poults for each youth taking a market turkey project.  Youth may order more than 5 poults but must pay for each poult after 5.  The prices are as follows: $3.50 per extra hen, $3.88 per extra straight run, and $4.25 per extra tom.  Please remember that this offer is only good for youth in 4-H and FFA who will be completing the market turkey project in 2025.

Pick-up date for the turkeys will be Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.  If you ordered more than 5 poults you must pay for them when you pick up your poults.

Quality Assurance Test-Out

Paulding County will allow our 4-H and FFA livestock youth to test out of Quality Assurance again for 2025.  Youth must take the test in Paulding County.  Below is the information that pertains to the Quality Assurance Test-Out option. Youth ages 8-11 (4-H age) are not eligible to test-out of QA and therefore must attend an in-person QA training.

 About the Test 

Youth will only have 1 attempt to pass the Quality Assurance test per year. A passing score is 70% or higher.  Youth will be told their score, but the test will not be returned to them after it is graded.  This test is not easy.  Youth wishing to complete the test-out option are highly encouraged to study before taking the test.  The Quality Assurance Test Study Guide is linked below.

Camp Counselor Application Now Available!

It is time to begin our selection process for our 4-H Camp Counselors for 4-H Camp 2025!

Paulding County 4-H Camp Counselors must be at least a Sophomore in High School, be a current Paulding County 4-H member, be willing and able to complete at least 24 hours of training, have a positive attitude, and want to make a difference in the lives of our youth.  New applicants will need to be prepared to submit 3 references (non-related) which will include the reference name, current phone number, and current e-mail address.  All applicants must be able to provide current contact information, emergency contact information, as well as answer the following questions:

  1. Why do you want to be a camp counselor?
  2. What traits, skills, or special experiences do you have that would benefit you in this position? (include experiences working with children and adults)
  3. What skills or contributions will you add to the counselor team in making sure camp is successful? (such as First Aid, Babysitter’s Course, Recreation, etc.)
  4. What hobbies and/or special interests do you have that you would like to share?
  5. List 2 of your strengths.

The application period begins today and all applications must be submitted by 4:30 pm on Friday, December 6, 2024.  All applicants will receive information about a required interview after the application deadline.  The dates for the interviews are December 26th and 27th.

Project Book Ordering

OSU Extension Publications will no longer be offering free shipping for project books starting this 4-H year. In order to help our members and their families, we will be ordering project books through our office with no charge for shipping. We will only be ordering a couple times a month in order to save our office on shipping as well and you will be contacted when your order is ready to be picked up. We will be taking orders (for the free shipping) until January 31st, 2025. We will still order the books you need after January 31st, but please be aware that you will be charged shipping (shipping charges will be divided out amongst those in the same order).

Paulding County Junior Fair Board Application Available

We are looking for high school students in Paulding County who have a passion for giving back to the community and ensuring the success of the Paulding County Junior Fair.  If this is you, your child, or someone you think would be interested in joining the Junior Fairboard, please click on the Junior Fairboard Application link below.  Applicants must be in high school and a member of a youth organization in Paulding County (4-H, FFA, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts).  The deadline for applications to be received is September 10th.

We are also taking applications for Paulding County Junior Fairboard Advisors.  Adults who are willing to volunteer their time to work closely with our high school youth to ensure the success of the Paulding County Junior Fair are able to apply.  If you are an adult interested in this volunteer opportunity, complete the application linked below titled Paulding County Junior Fairboard Advisor Application.  Deadline to apply is September 10th.

4-H Camp Registration Deadline Approaching

We know everyone is busy this week with fair, but we wanted to post a reminder about 4-H Camp! Registration and health forms are due NEXT Friday, June 21st. Forms can be found here, on the Clover Connection, under 4-H Camp → Applications, Forms, and Registration. We also have printed forms in our OSU Extension booth located in the Extension Hall.
