Calling all gardeners! Would you like to join the Ohio State University Master Gardener Volunteer Program? Becoming a Master Gardener Volunteer is an ongoing process. Your contributions to the community start during the initial course. Afterwards, you will have the skills and knowledge necessary to strengthen your relationship with the environment and the community. Applications are now available for the 2019 training class to be held next spring. The Ohio State University Master Gardener Program reaches thousands of people in Licking County each year.
Volunteers receive training from OSU experts on topics such as lawns, soil health, tree identification, annual and perennial plants, insects, pest management, plant diseases and more! Once trained, Master Gardeners volunteer for OSU Extension to increase the outreach efforts of Ohio State University throughout the community. Some projects include conducting gardening education seminars and workshops, hosting informational booths for events, and maintaining our own Learning Gardens for research and public education.
The training will begin in February and run through to mid-April. Classes will be held Tuesdays from 8:30 A.M. until 4:00 P.M. at various locations. The application and more detailed information about cost and class schedule can be found at our Extension website, http://licking.osu.edu.
