The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has awarded the Global One Health initiative (GOHi) a new grant of $4 million to enhance detection, response, and prevention of antimicrobial resistance and associated health threats in hospitals in Ethiopia. Center for HOPES Research Evaluator Saira Nawaz serves as a public health lead from Ohio State on GOHi, supporting monitoring and evaluation of the initiative’s activities. Over the next five years, this new funding from the CDC will allow GOHi and the Ethiopian government to enhance infection prevention and control measures, implement laboratory quality assurance, and build capacity to prepare for, monitor, and respond to antimicrobial resistance outbreaks through training, mentoring, and evaluation.
