Mission Statement

Recycling systems are not as effective as they could be. The current OSU recyclable collection system is obsolete. The system does not effectively inform people how to recycle certain items into prioritized recycling categories. This leads to sorting mistakes and contamination, which negatively impacts the recyclability of said items. This is a problem in the world at large, where much of our recyclables end up in landfills and not recycled at all. We believe this program should be tackled from it’s root, the moment when a user discards an item.

In doing so, The Ohio State University could serve as a testing ground for ground breaking recycling solutions, as well as making considerable progress to its zero waste goals.
