The team chose to test the accuracy of code for AR&D3 which outlines the difference between braking mechanisms for the AEV. The options were: having the AEV coast and then brake using the servo motor or using the servo motor to brake at top speed. The team measured the difference by taking pictures of where the AEV stopped in relation to the gate on the tracks.
USING THE SERVO MOTOR TO BRAKE:
HAVING THE AEV COAST AND THEN BRAKING USING SERVO:
It can be seen that the AEV was much more accurate using the coasting and then braking scenario rather than braking at top speed. This will in the future use less energy and also increase the accuracy rating of the AEV, therefore making it more cost effective.
