Final Design

After all the experiments and testing the final design compared to earlier designs show how the team constantly improved upon the design. With the addition of the servo motor for braking, the 3D printed arm for attaching to the cargo, and a smaller base for weight reduction. For better comparison here is what the AEV looked like when the first prototype was built.

The final design is a slim submarine shape design with motors on both sides. The 3D printed part is at the front of the vehicle above the battery, this was to get around the propeller and connect the vehicle to the cargo for the final tests. On the arm there is also the servo motor which is the blue box, this was added later on to make braking use less energy and make the AEV stop quicker. The team also decided to switch to a smaller base to reduce the weight a little bit more and possibly reduce air drag. In the end the design was able to pass the testing and stay within the budget of the city, proving that this design can work efficiently and reliably.
