Power braking, the method of reversing the motors to stop the AEV at an earlier distance, can be used to brake the AEV at a specific distance. Although this may prove useful under certain scenarios, the method proved to use twice as much power just to make the vehicle stop at 70% of the distance it would originally go if no braking were present. With having Group C focusing on speed, this lab helped the group decide to use the servo motor as a breaking system. The reason for this is that a servo motor could stop the AEV at a much quicker rate, and the motor also would not consume as much power. Being able to brake quickly and precisely will aid in lowering the time lag it will take for the AEV to slow down and brake, thus improving on the overall speed of the AEV.
