Decisions:

  • Nic recorded everyone’s OSU credentials to deliver to the other team within our company who was initializing the website in order for us to gain administrative privileges
  • Brent and Tyler wrote Arduino code
  • Matthew researched the correct handling procedure of the Arduino Mini
  • Nic documented the Arduino’s performance while it executed the program we created

Decisions:

  • Brent would be responsible for storing the AEV
  • Brent and Nic would construct the first iteration of the AEV

Objective:

  • Become familiar with MATLAB based design analysis tool
  • Be able to upload Arduino data into the design analysis tool
  • Be able to conduct performance analysis of an AEV operation
  • Be able to export plots for reports

Decisions:

  • Tyler would write Arduino code and setup MATLAB design analysis tool on his laptop
  • Brent would reassemble AEV
  • Nic would attach reflectance sensors to AEV
  • Matthew would aid in the construction of the AEV configuration by pulling up the 3-dimensional model and guiding Nic and Brent
  • Brent and Matthew would run the AEV trial on the overhead rails

Objective: 

  • Design experiments in which efficiency can be calculated between different motor orientations and power levels 
  • Design an AEV frame from which multiple differing motor configurations can be mounted to. 
  • Begin collecting data on the first test 

Decisions: 

  • One set of trials will be recorded where different motor orientations will be run through constant power and time to analyze their efficiency at displacing the AEV along a flush track. This trial will then be run for the reverse direction as well to account for reverse efficiency of the motors. 
  • One set of trials will be recorded where a constant single motor orientation will be tested with differing levels of power provided for a constant time to analyze the efficiency at displacing the AEV along a flush track. This trial will not be run in the reverse direction as engine orientation relative to the AEV’s direction of travel is not being analyzed. 
  • Nic will work on creating presentation

Objective:

Decisions: 

  • The team didn’t like how slow the others AEVs’ were traveling after the inclined track in order to achieve stopping at the correct mark. We allowed our AEV to complete this performance test in a fraction of the time of others by allowing our AEV to exit the incline with relatively great speed and achieved stopping by providing a short burst of reverse thrust as the AEV approached the stopping point. 
  • Providing moral support for other teams within our company who were having difficulty with performance test 1

  • Matthew pulled efficiency data summaries from each trial spreadsheet to one reference spreadsheet for the progress report
  • Nic Began formatting a Word document for the Progress report
  • Brent and Tyler dismantled the previous AEV design built on the T platform and reassembled it to a vertically mounted rectangular platform.
  • Matthew uploaded each trial efficiency curve to the appendix of the report
  • Nic Was assigned to write the introduction, Brent and Tyler each assigned to the discussion of an aR&D test, and Matthew was assigned the conclusion.

  • Design a hitch that would not interfere with the front motor that would be able to attach to the cart

Decisions: 

  • Tyler devised an arch attachment for the front of the AEV that would reach above the front motor and then come down to meet the AEV trailer at the correct height
  • Brent Attached the new hitch to the AEV as Tyler began writing code for the second half of the AEV’s movement to the trailer at the end of the track
  • Matthew and Tyler curated slide for the oral presentation and divided up the topics for each teammate to discuss.
