Advanced R&D Test 3

Goal: This was the final performance test and required carrying the cargo all the way back to the start accurately and without bumping the cargo too hard or hitting the gate.

Application:  The final design implemented a servo motor for braking more accurately, but the week prior to the performance test proved very inconsistent. Power and braking inconsistencies from speed and dysfunction of the servo mount contributed to this. The AEV was so inconsistent that the AEV stopped before the gate once and then almost crashed into the gate the following run.
Results: The AEV was inconsistent up until the very end, but after a TA helped us determine the problem of the duct tape from the servo mount rubbing against the wheel. We had to re calibrate the motor speed and successfully completed the test, but had accuracy issues which resulted in needing to move the AEV when it stopped too early.
