Central Tagging

  • Central Tagging will be June 14th from 7:00 am – 10:00 am in the Ext. Office Parking Lot.
  • NEW: Families with market animals not present at Central Tagging on June 8th will be charged a $50 farm visit and $10/tag which is payable up front which will be charged in 2025.
  • Feeder Calves: Your feeder calf must be present at tagging, EVEN if your animal already has an EID tag. Feeder calves will also receive a vaccine – cost is $2.00.
  • Swine:  Your animal must be present at tagging, EVEN if your animal already has an EID tag.
  • Rabbits:  All rabbits in possession (breeding and roasters) will come to Central Tagging.
  • Sheep & Goats: Only market sheep and market goats
  • Poultry:  Poultry does not come to tagging

 

NEW ODA UPDATE: CLARIFICATION ON PULLORUM TESTING OF POULTRY
Exemption for 2025 Exhibition year: – Testing not required.

  • All Market chickens and Market turkeys that are bought from an NPIP source do
    NOT have to be pullorum tested before exhibition. Defiance County Bulk Orders of Market Chickens and Turkeys are from an NPIP source.
  • Encourage separation of project types (Market, layers, fancy, etc)
  • Fancy birds/breeding birds will not be subject to pullorum testing.
  • It is at the discretion of the Senior Fairboard to test chickens at Fair check-in should any bird display symptoms.
  • Reminder- Waterfowl are exempt from this rule per OAC 901:1-18-05 (D)

  • Ohio State Fair:  Exhibitors are required to take a current/completed Ohio 4-H project record book.

  • Dog Projects will need to purchase from Extension Office

ANIMAL LEASING

Livestock Breeding & Dairy Leases
These leases are required to be in place 60 days prior to exhibition and go until the completion of the project. These leases outline rules for both the lessee and lessor as well as asking for animal description.  There is also another sheet with additional lease ideas.  These lease agreements are required at minimum, however members can add to them (i.e., vet contact info, transportation agreement, etc).

As a reminder: Leasing MARKET animals for youth exhibition projects is NOT permitted under any circumstances.
