Canter’s Cave 4-H Camp presents….. Exploring STEM at Camp!

What: 4-H STEM Camp focuses on the topics of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics in ways that are unique and fun. Youth will explore the outdoors and learn about the science of the world around them through interactive sessions. Campers will enjoy traditional camp activities with a STEM twist!

When:  June 10-12th, 2024

Who: Open to youth in grades 5-7th

Cost: $100

Darke County Poultry Clinic

Who: Open to Junior Fair Poultry exhibitors from surrounding counties

What: This clinic is a great opportunity to expand knowledge of poultry projects and get prepared for upcoming fairs! Lunch will be provided at the conclusion of the clinic (sponsored by Copper Farms). Clinic topics include:

New for 2024: Show Clothes Closet!

The Shelby County Junior Fair Board is excited to introduce the Show Clothes Closet! Junior Fair families can spend a lot of money buying new show clothes and boots each year as their children grow each year. To help one another out, we are currently accepting donations to stock the Show Clothes Closet. Donations can be accepted at the Extension Office during our regular business hours (M-F 8:30 AM- 4:30 PM) or dropped off at any of the Quality Assurance programs!

Items Needed (gently used condition, no holes/tears):

  • Jeans (Boot cut preferred)
  • Button down shirts
  • Belts
  • White jackets & white pants
  • Boots

Citizenship Washington Focus

Learn 10 Facts About Washington, D.C.

What is it?: Citizenship Washington Focus (CWF) is a 4-H leadership program for high school youth (ages 14-19) from across the country. Youth have the opportunity to explore, develop, and refine the civic engagement skills they need to be outstanding leaders in their communities.

What will participants do?: Through sightseeing tours in Washington D.C. and hands-on educational workshops, youth will learn about the history of our nation, the leaders who have shaped it, and how they can apply the leadership and citizenship skills they have learned at CWF when they return home!

When?: Ohio 4-H gives participants can either participate in Week 1 (June 15-22) or Week 2 (June 20-27)

Mr. & Mrs. C.H. Ginn Agriculture Scholarship

BACKGROUND

Vera Ginn established the Mr. & Mrs. C.H. Ginn Agricultural Scholarship in recognition of the lifetime contribution that her parents made to the agricultural community of Shelby County.  Mr. & Mr. C.H. Ginn were farmers and agricultural enthusiasts, and they operated a well-known feed grain and agriculture supply business in Sidney for many years.

ELIGIBILITY PER-REQUISITES

  1. Possess a definite goal of becoming established in farming or other agricultural related career.
  2. Planning to enter a post-secondary educational institution of higher learning in the fall of the year in which application is made.
  3. Current senior attending a Shelby County school:  Anna, Botkins, Fairlawn, Fort Loramie, Hardin-Houston, Jackson Center, Lehman, Russia, Sidney or Sidney Christian.
  4. Completed and submitted the Mr. & Mrs. C.H. Ginn Agricultural Scholarship by February 28 of the application year.
