2025 Junior Fair Submitted Rule Changes & Suggestions

The Shelby County Junior Fair Board will review the attached rule changes and suggestions at their Annual Rule Change Meeting on January 19th at 6 PM in the Extension Office Meeting Room. This meeting is open to the public, and we highly suggest you attend if you are particularly passionate about one of the attached rule changes and suggestions. We greatly appreciate your efforts to help improve the Shelby County Junior Fair!

Ginn Agriculture Scholarship

Boost employee engagement with scholarship programs | Feed & Grain

Background: The Mr. & Mrs. C.H. Ginn Agricultural Scholarship in recognition of the lifetime contribution that her parents made to the agricultural community of Shelby County. Mr. & Mrs. C.H. Ginn were farmers and agricultural enthusiasts, and they operated a well-known feed grain and agriculture supply business in Sidney for many years.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Possess a definite goal of becoming established in farming or other agricultural related career.
  • Planning to enter a post-secondary educational institution of higher learning in the fall of the year in which application is made.
  • Current senior attending a Shelby County school: Anna, Botkins, Fairlawn, Fort Loramie, Hardin-Houston, Jackson Center, Lehman Russia, Sidney or Sidney Christian.
  • Completed and submitted the Mr. & Mrs. C.H. Ginn Agricultural Scholarship by February 28th of the application year.

Applications due to the Shelby County Extension Office no later than February 28, 2025!

Buckeye Leadership Workshop Information:

Date: March 26-30th, 2025

Location: Recreation Unlimited- Ashley, OH

What: Buckeye Leadership Workshop is a learning and sharing workshop intended as a balanced program of social, physical, and mental activities. The workshop also benefits those who simply enjoy association with great people, experiencing new ideas, and learning new skills.

Who: Open for ages 14 to 114!!

Cost: $390 per participant (covers all meals, lodging, and basic workshop programming)

Ohio 4-H State Leadership Camp

4-H Camp Ohio

Ohio 4-H State Leadership Camp Info:

Date: June 1-5th, 2025 (full time attendance required)

Location: 4-H Camp Ohio- St. Louisville, OH

What: Ohio 4-H State Leadership Camp is a premier leadership development opportunity that offers participants engaging sessions in topics such as motivation, courage, teamwork, and more! While at camp, participants are actively learning AND teaching their peers!

Who: Teens 15-18 as of January 1, 2025 and mature 14 years olds (determined by county 4-H professional) who have significant leadership potential or experience in the home county 4-H program

What do they do: Participants will develop concrete peer leadership skills that will enable them to have an immediate impact in their home 4-H club, county, community, or school. Participants will leave camp ready to take on new challenges.

Costs: Counties have a credit thanks to Nationwide, Farm Credit Mid America, and the Dorothy L. Miller 4-H Leadership Camp Endowment Fund. This amount can be used for an entire campership or divided among participants!

Details:

  • Thursday, February 27th from 4:30 to 6:30 PM (Registration closes on February 20th)
  • Wonderful opportunity to take guided tours of the CFAES classrooms, labs, and facilities
  • Meet academic staff and student leaders, discover CFAES majors and student organizations, and participate in a fun careers game to win prizes!
  • OSU Hockey game against Michigan at 8 PM
