2019 Ohio State Fair 4-H SPELLING BEE COMPETITION

Open to all Ohio 3rd-6th Graders 4-H Members & Non-4-H Members. This competition is an educational and fun event for all Ohio students in grades 3rd-6th. It is not a sanctioned Bee and winners do not advance to any other Bee or competition, but it is great practice and fun for the students!
Entry Deadline: June 1 Registration for Schools and June 15th for 4-H Offices
Date/Time: July 27-8:00a 3rd & 4th Graders–Janis Center Lobby Event
Date/Time: July 27-9:00a 3rd & 4th Graders Registration
Date/Time: July 27-12:00p 5th & 6th Graders–Janis Center Lobby Event
Date/Time: July 27-1:00p 5th & 6th Graders (following 3rd/4th grade bee)
Competition Notes:
  • Eligibility to here will be two competitions; one for 3rd & 4th graders and one for 5th & 6th graders.
  • Students compete in the grade level they are in at the time of registration (i.e. their 2018-19 grade level).
  • Each school may recommend two students for each grade level.
  • Each 4-H County Extension office may recommend one student for each grade level..
  • All 3rd-6th grade students are permitted to enter (even if they entered in 2018). However, a 6thgrader that participated in 2018is not eligible for the 2019competitionas they will have already completed the 7thgrade.
  • Students who finished first and won their grade level spelling bee in 2018 are note eligible to participate in the same grade level in 2019. Each school and county extension office will be notified of acceptance via email.
  • Study links and competition regulations will be emailed to each student by the end of June (i.e. Merriam Webster National Spelling Bee study guide).
There is no entry fee to compete in this competition.
