APOP at Science Olympiad

APOP is excited to be partnering with the Ohio Science Olympiad program to develop and host an archaeology themed trial event for this year’s Ohio Science Olympiad State Tournament. Students will use knowledge acquired from provided readings to walk through the different stages of a simulated archaeological excavation. Based on the information gathered from the excavation, students will then reconstruct the events that lead to the formation of the archaeological site and reconstruct the behavior of the site’s inhabitants. Stations will include hands on activities involving artifacts, faunal remains, botanical remains, maps, and calipers. This is a Division B event, intended for advanced middle school students interested in STEM fields. If you would like to check out our event, you can find a detailed list of Science Olympiad events here. Just look for “Can you dig it?“!
