APOP at the OSU Residence Halls

Two volunteers running a food activityThe APOP Dorm Outreach Team aims to spread awareness of important anthropological topics to students across OSU’s campus outside of a classroom setting. We visit residential dorms at both the Columbus and regional OSU campuses and hold interactive workshops to investigate how culture and diversity can impact all aspects of our lives. Our workshop activities include food mapping and discussions about football teams and fan support, and from these activities we hope to engage students in thinking about their own cultural upbringing, how their world-views may differ from those of other people, and how these differences can be reconciled. Over the past year we have also developed a workshop to explore the multidimensional nature of social inequality in the Columbus area, to allow students to see how diversity can impact us at an immediate, local level.
