It seems to feel like forever since we have been able to meet in person and discuss the 4-H program. Trust me when I say, I miss seeing people and being in my office! This year is definitely a learning experience for us all!
Yesterday evening the Belmont County 4-H Council met via Zoom. I must say it was nice to see some faces and talk to members, but something was missing. The physical presence and energy of us all in the same room planning our 4-H events.
Date Change!
Still Project Judging is being pushed back by 1 week to July 14th. After some discussion at the 4-H Council meeting, it was decided to be pushed back a week. This is due to the Extension office staff not being back in the office until July 6th (currently). Which meant we would have had one day to get everything prepped in the office for judging the next day. Personally, I appreciate the support council showed in making this decision. However, we do realize this may conflict with some who made plans for the week of the 14th with vacations, etc. We are going to offer members to complete their interview judging via Zoom with the judge if they cannot be at judging. A letter requesting a Zoom Judging Interview will still need to be submitted to the Extension Office by July 1st. This will allow members to still compete for county level awards and state delegation. We recommend that members who need to Zoom for their interview turn in projects the week before so that the judge can view their book, exhibit, etc. in person during the interview.
Still Project Judging will take place July 14th in the afternoon/evening. It will be held at the Belmont County Fairgrounds at the Wise Horticulture building.
Also, we are constantly sharing virtual engagement opportunities on our 4-H Facebook page and Instagram page. I encourage 4-H families to check out some of these opportunities. These are virtual engagement opportunities being offered across the state!
