Mentoring, mentoring up, and mentoring networks: Fundamental for success in graduate school
Marcela Hernandez, PhD, Administrative Director for Office of Postdoctoral Affairs
A molecular biologist and biochemist by training, Dr. Hernandez designs and implements programs to enhance retention, and support of postdoctoral scholars including a special focus on those with underrepresented backgrounds.
Learning outcomes for Mentoring Up:
- Participants will understand how mentoring experiences will result in dramatically different outcomes
- Participants will learn about mentoring resources on and off campus
- Participants will have a chance to use a case study to apply some of the strategies discussed

Imposter Syndrome in Higher Education
Dr. Anna Parkman
Dr. Parkman will address the phenomenon of imposter syndrome and its impact. This session will also explain how imposter syndrome impacts both students and staff, and any recommendations for staff who support graduate students suffering from this phenomenon.
