In my time here, I have been fortunate to be involved with others in debating an $80 million calendar conversion, devising a campus-wide salary scale, hiring excellent colleagues, promoting and supporting our diverse student body, increasing the faculty participation in our important annual Campus Campaign, stimulating the intellectual life of the campus through lectures and guest speakers, helping the library transition into its 21st century space in a new building, co-chairing committees to develop a major and a minor, and promoting a local historical site that is truly an international wonder of the ancient world. I deeply enjoy committee work and the challenge of listening to a variety of opinions and helping people arrive at consensus. I have won the campus’s Excellence in Service Award three times as well as the Office of Multicultural Affairs’ service award. In 2022-23 I am serving as the campus Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Fellow.
