Newark faculty graduate from community leadership class

NEWARK, Ohio, June 16, 2016 – Four faculty and staff members on the shared campus of The Ohio State University at Newark and Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) recently graduated from the Community Leadership of Licking County program. The program is put on by the Licking County Chamber of Commerce. COTC Vice President of Academic Affairs Lauri White, Ed.D., Assistant Director of Development Kim Manno, J.D., Office of Student Life Administrative Assistant Elaine Stevens and Ohio State Newark Associate Professor of English Elizabeth Weiser, Ph.D., took part in the nine month program.

“The Chamber’s leadership model has made me aware of the importance of focusing on our strengths, something I’ve now incorporated into my work with students as well,” said Weiser. “Its class connections helped me find wonderful new mentors for my writing students. Most of all, the program made me aware of the web of complex issues in our county. I understand and appreciate much better our campus’s place in the larger community, and I am excited to continue our involvement with so many good people working at all levels to make this a great place to live.”
