The city of Columbus is in need of a new mode of transportation to and from the city and the Group J Division of Watts Scientific came up with the answer. Group J created an AEV, which is an autonomous, electric-motor powered vehicle, that will start at Easton Shopping Center and travel to Linden and back, stopping at Columbus both ways. This vehicle will be used to take people to and from work, shopping, or a trip out on the town.
Group J’s AEV design is different from all of its competitors. The one feature that the group was proud to come up with is a 3D printed part. This part, a curved piece, is located both on the front and back of the vehicle. Not only does the part look aesthetically pleasing, it serves practical purposes as well. The first reason to come up with such a part was to have the AEV to be more aerodynamic, allowing the wind to travel over the curved piece. Another purpose of the 3D printed part is the fact that it will keep all of the equipment located on the AEV safe from the elements such as snow and rain. The battery and Arduino will be covered from the parts, which means less maintenance is needed. The last purpose that the 3D printed parts serve is a safety barrier. Since the pieces are located on the front and the back, the AEV itself is safe to travel on, not just the caboose. This will allow for more travelers to get to and from the city of Columbus.
Not only is the design of Group J’s AEV something that sets it apart from the crowd but also the way that it travels along the track. The AEV does not have any sudden starts or stops, which is great for those riding on it because they will not be jostled around by the sudden movements. When the AEV does stop, it comes to a gradual stop and waits a long enough time for passengers to exit and enter before moving onto the next location. Also, the AEV only takes a quick 52 seconds to go from Easton, stop at Columbus, pick up travelers in Linden, stop at Columbus on the way back, and end at Easton. This travel time is way more efficient than waiting at a bus stop or even driving yourself. Not only is the time less, but it is also better for the environment. Running on an electric battery, the AEV does not expel any harmful substances into the air.
When looking for a new way to get to and from Columbus, purchase Group J’s AEV. It is a choice you will not regret.
