Maddie’s concept design was made based on a more curved design than that of the reference AEV design. The idea was to have a curved front so the vehicle could push through the air and have the air go around it, rather than straight through it. In the reference design, there is no surface on the front, just sides that stick out at an angle to hold the motors. With no front surface, the air travels directly through the structure. When making Maddie’s design, the thought was to have a front similar to an airplane. Airplanes fly through the air with great velocity, so why not have a similar structure to the AEV? This design also has the battery placed under the structure and the Arduino located near the rear. The pro to this design is that it will hopefully be able to travel through the air more efficiently when moving forward. However, the con to this design is that the vehicle may not be able to travel backwards as well.
