Performance Test 2 Code:
Reference: “Preliminary R&D” The Ohio State University, Jan. 2018
The code for performance test 2 is a continuation off of the code for the initial performance test. Small alterations had to be made to the first section because the testing was done in two different rooms. After the AEV went through the gate, the AEV was programmed to run at 41% power for 3.1 seconds. This brought the AEV to the downhill part of the track and for that part the AEV coasted into the loading gate to connect with the caboose. Once the AEV connected, it had to wait 5 seconds and then travel backwards with the caboose attached out of the loading zone. To get the AEV and caboose out of the loading zone, a lot of power was needed (78%) over a 3 second period.
Performance Test 2 Data:
The figure above shows the graph for power vs distance for performance test 2. After reviewing the Ar&d tests and the results from performance test 1, performance test 2 was done utilizing the configuration with three inch propellers. The changes in power here all reflect different portions of the track and the times where the power is zero indicate when the AEV is waiting at the gate. A huge spike in power is seen as the AEV continues downhill, right before it connects with the caboose.
The figure above shows the graph for power vs time for performance test 2. Again this graph is showing the same data essentially as the graph above but it is using time as a metric rather than power. In the code for the AEV, the group programmed it to wait periods of time with no power, which is shown above and there were also points on the graph were the group had cut the power to the AEV, forcing it to coast to its destinations which are also present above.
