Graduate Associate Teaching Award (GATA) Nominations Open until November 15

This is a reminder that nominations for the Graduate Associate Teaching Award (GATA) are open via Qualtrics. Every year,  graduate students take on the responsibility to teach and find new ways to enrich the student experience at Ohio State. The Graduate School is excited to honor the incredible GTAs who have positively impacted the education of their students through their teaching and mentoring.

Nominations for the 2023-2024 GATA will close on November 15, 2023, at 5:00PM. Late submissions will not be considered. After nominations have closed, Graduate School Fellowship Services will reach out to all eligible nominees with information regarding the GATA Student Workshop that will occur later in the fall semester.

GATA applications will begin being accepted via GradAwards on December 4, 2023. Final application materials must be submitted as one single combined PDF document. The final packet may be uploaded by the student’s Program Coordinator to the GradAwards system, or they may be emailed directly to grad-schoolfellowships@osu.edu by February 14, 2024, by the 5:00PM Eastern Time deadline. Any submission received after the deadline or containing multiple files will not be considered.

If you have any additional questions, please reference the Graduate Associate Teaching Award (GATA) webpage or email grad-schoolfellowships@osu.edu, and we would be happy to assist. Please feel free to share this information with colleagues and graduate studies communities in your respective areas.

EHE Graduate Student Writing Group

In 2021, Dr. Rhodesia McMillian started an EHE writing group for Ed Policy students. But it grew, and graduate students from across the college and campus would join. This semester, Dr. McMillian will reinstitute the EHE Graduate Student Writing Group. It is open to all students and faculty who benefit from structured writing. It’s a simple setup… log in, write quietly for 90 minutes, and log off. There is no coaching or discussion on your writing skills, just a quiet writing accountability space. You can use this time to work on a manuscript, class assignment, dissertation, conference proposal, etc.
