Changes to the 2022 Academic Calendar

As you may already know, the Office of the University Registrar recently distributed a message regarding changes to the University’s academic calendar. These changes include a new start date to Summer Term 2022.  The first day of Summer Term 2022 has been moved up one day, from Wednesday, May 11, 2022, to Tuesday, May 10, 2022.

As the Graduate School establishes its deadlines and processes based on the academic calendar, the aforementioned changes necessitate that the Graduate School recognizes the last day of Spring Semester 2022 as Monday, May 9, 2022. The new deadline for any student utilizing the Spring Semester 2022 End-of-Semester (EOS) option will be Monday, May 9, 2022.  The Graduation Calendar on the Graduate School website has been adjusted to reflect this change.  Also, May 9, 2022, is the last day that a PhD student may successfully complete a doctoral candidacy exam for Spring Semester 2022 and be considered a post-candidacy student beginning Summer Term 2022.

You may have also received notice from the Office of Human Resources (OHR) and/or your local Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) of corresponding changes to Graduate Associate (GA) appointment dates. Please note that the end date to Spring Semester 2022 and start date to Summer Term GA appointments have now changed. Spring Semester 2022 GA appointments should now end on May 9, 2022, and Summer Term 2022 GA appointments should now begin on May 10, 2022. Please work with your HRBP to ensure that you are utilizing the correct period activity pay dates in Workday, whether they be on new appointments or appointments already entered into the system. Questions regarding GA appointment dates and documents should be referred to your HRBP and/or HR Connection.
