Please join the Graduate Interdisciplinary Seminar in Literacy Studies on Friday, November 4, from 12 noon to 1:30 pm in 311 Denney Hall, for our next meeting.
The session is called “Service Learning Literacy.” Service learning seeks to increase awareness of civic duty by combining guided classroom instruction with community service, often by promoting literacy. What are some of the common approaches? Who benefits and how? What kinds of reading and writing are valued? All students with an interest in the study of literacy are invited to a roundtable featuring a trio of guests experienced in service learning initiatives.
