The Ohio State University is a large matrixed organization with many resources to help. However, some of these things can be hard to find. Below are some of the most common resources to help you with your clinical and/or research needs.
The College of Medicine Office of Research
The College of Medicine Office of Research, provides extensive support and resources for our biomedical research community by focusing our efforts on essential pre- and post-award activities and connecting researchers with sponsors. Our shared core labs allow scientists to move quickly once funding is in place, with well-established facilities, equipment and resources ready for engagement.
The OSU Office of Responsible Research
The University Office of Responsible Research Practices provides administrative support to the university research community and the committees responsible for research review and oversight. We help Ohio State faculty, staff, and student researchers navigate research requirements through education and quality improvement initiatives designed to facilitate research, improve efficiencies, and ensure regulatory compliance.
The Office of Curriculum and Scholarship (OCS)
The College of Medicine Office of Curriculum and Scholarship (OCS) collaborates with faculty to investigate educational topics by designing studies, analyzing data, and disseminating results to the academic community.
Additional Resources
The shared resources available to researchers are designed to facilitate leading-edge research in the areas of genetics, microscopy, biomedical informatics and others.
The breadth, scope, and excellence of our research programs make Ohio State a leading force of innovation and change – locally, nationally, and globally. Ohio State is one of only a few universities in the U.S. that, in a single location, houses 15 different colleges, including seven health sciences colleges and a college of agriculture.
At Ohio State we have all of the tools that are needed—the creative minds, the expertise, the experience and the world-class facilities—to discover innovative solutions to complex problems.
The Laboratory Manager Mentoring program helps connect new lab managers with experts in the field who have experience in overseeing laboratory operations and safety management. The program matches prospective lab manager mentees with lab manager mentors who may work in the same department or building or who may have similar lab environments or research interests.
The College of Medicine Office of Research in collaboration with The Ohio State University Health System has developed a defined process for granting access to the electronic health record, IHIS (Integrated Healthcare Information System), for research purposes. This process creates uniformity in the approval of access to protected health information (PHI) for research purposes and promotes compliance with regulations and institutional policies.
