Where x is 35 – 50 in increments of 5 and y is 50 or 100 depending on the trial.
Conclusions:
35% motor speed was the most energy efficient speed for towing the caboose, followed closely by 40%. Further tests may have shown 40% to be more efficient, but 35% was slightly better in this case. 45% and 50% speeds proved to be very inefficient, using much more energy than the other two speeds and often not gaining much more distance or time to make up for it.
