Hemlock Woolly Adelgid

Eastern hemlocks play a key role in Hocking County’s ecology and economy. These trees, however, are currently threatened by the recent discovery of the Hemlock Woolly Adelgid in southeastern Ohio. Join us for an evening program designed to introduce the potential threats, impacts, and management issues presented by the Hemlock Woolly Adelgid in the Hocking Hills Region.

The evening’s program will include the following speakers:

Pat Quackenbush, Naturalist, Hocking Hills State Park:

Importance of hemlock to the Hocking Hills and issues and concerns regarding Hemlock Woolly Adelgid

Jesse Webster, Forester, Great Smoky Mountains National Park

How the Great Smoky Mountains has faced the invasion of Hemlock Woolly Adelgid and how they are man-aging for this pest

Stephanie Downs, Forester, Ohio Division of Forestry

Current status of Hemlock Woolly Adelgid in Ohio

Hocking Hills Tourism Association

Plans on how Hocking County is preparing for the invasion of Hemlock Woolly Adelgid to the Hocking Hills Region
