Sustaining Human Societies & the Environment

Spend 3.5 weeks on New Zealand’s south island studying natural and social issues of sustainability in a diverse environment.  Discuss the environmental impacts of increased economic reliance on human interactions with vulnerable natural environments.  Compare and contrast conservation and resource management practices in the U.S. to practices in New Zealand.  Learn about the impacts of anthropogenic climate change and invasive species on New Zealand’s natural resources and wildlife.  Throughout the program, participants will study the influence of Maori perspectives on New Zealand’s environmental policy and decision making.
