Environment and Natural Resources

Study environmental issues in a geologically diverse landmass featuring glaciers, geysers, fjords, and volcanoes.  Learn about renewable energy from a global leader in geothermal energy production.  Discuss the environmental and cultural impacts of increased tourism in Iceland.  Environment and Natural Resources in Iceland addresses environmental issues from an interdisciplinary perspective and is open to students from all majors.  The program is particularly relevant for students interested in environmental science, earth science, geology, geography, natural resource management, cultural studies, and atmospheric sciences.  For more information, read the 2016 student blog!

Accepted students will enroll in total of four credit hours in order to participate in this program.  Prior to departure, students are required to participate in a 1 credit hour course during Spring semester (ENR 5790.06).  In the pre-departure course, students will learn about Icelandic culture and participate in a group research project.  During summer session two, students will spend two weeks in Iceland and earn three credit hours (ENR 5797.06).
