Are you ready?

The time has come. You know that pharmacy team members have the trust of their patients and community, a direct impact on patients’ health and outcomes, and a strategic role in the healthcare system.

That’s why we want to make certain pharmacy’s leaders are honored for their vision and contributions. The Next-Generation Pharmacist® awards program was founded on this idea, and now is your opportunity to nominate an exceptional pharmacist, technician, or pharmacy student.

Nominations in 10 categories are open today and are free, fast, and easy to submit online.

Those who submitted nominations for 2016 will recognize our user-friendly nomination portal. There is no need to create a new account for 2017.

Nominations will be open until March 31, 2017, and your nominee could be recognized at the awards gala in San Diego, California.

Connect and Collaborate Grant Proposals Due February 1

Funding available for faculty, staff and student engagement

The Connect and Collaborate Grants Program incentivizes faculty, staff, students and their public/private sector community partners to submit pre-proposals which have the potential to catalyze engaged, collaborative teaching and research activities benefiting the community and university. Grants up to $70,000 are available. Pre-proposals are due Wednesday, Feb. 1. An information session will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 11:30 a.m. in the Research Commons and can also be viewed online athttps://carmenconnect.osu.edu/jan17ccgrants.

Call for Proposals – ESC Conference

This is Engagement: Best Practices in Community-Engaged Scholarship
Conference: September 26-27, 2017
Hosted by Auburn University with the ESC Southern Region, Birmingham, Alabama
The Call for Proposals for the 2017 Engagement Scholarship Consortium (ESC) conference is now open.
Proposals are sought for presentations and posters that will inform or advance the scholarship and practice of engaged scholarship and university-community partnerships through research findings, innovative program design and partnership models, proven community/institutional impacts, effective curriculum or service-learning models, collaborative policy development and integration, or successful civic engagement practices.
The online submission deadline for proposal submissions is March 15th, 2017.
The 2017 conference will take place in Birmingham, Alabama, on September 26th-27th, with the pre-conference workshops taking place on September 24th-25th.

The Group on Health Equity

Group on Health EquityThe Group on Health Equity has a meeting coming up on November 1st, 2016 from 6-8p at the BRT. This group meets quarterly to bring health care professionals and health care students together to network, meet each other, and learn about a topic related to Health Equity.

This quarter’s meeting will be from a representative of Equitas Health, speaking on HIV’s disproportionate impact and new methods of prevention.

Ohio State’s own Phil Anderson highlighted for work with Narcan

10TV aired a segment on a new program that pharmacy student, Kelsey Shmuhl, is spearheading in collaboration with the Student Health Center through Partner for Promotion to promote Naloxone distribution at Student Health.  The pharmacist, Phil Anderson, is her preceptor and the person in the video.

The APhA-ASP/IPSF Student Exchange Programme Pre-Application is now open

2015-2016 was yet another successful year for the Student Exchange Program (SEP). This summer we hosted 36 students from different countries and sent 40 student pharmacists from various US schools of pharmacy to experience pharmacy practice in different countries Europe, Asia, and Africa. YOU can also experience pharmacy practice in a different country next year.

Pre-application for summer the 2017 SEP cycle opened on Thursday, September 15th and closes at midnight on Tuesday, November 1st. Please visit the Application Page, and don’t forget about the Chapter Advisor Form! Don’t miss out on the opportunity; be sure to submit an application this year.
